I am Dr. Jaruwarintr Chawengchettanon, Orthodontist specialist and treatment coordinator at Inspire Smile Clinic. Regarding implants, our implantologist, Assistant Prof. Dr. Athiphan Pimkhaokham, is now Assistant Professor at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and has taught in Oral Surgery and Implantology course for many years. We can say he is one of top 5 famous implantologists in Thailand. A well known implantologist and a reputed oral surgeon, he has association with so many hospitals in and around Bangkok. He is the member of Thai board in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Thai Dental Council, Thailand.
He operates on around 100 complicated patients a month in oral surgery and implants.

Dr. Athiphan Pimkhaokham received his DDS (dental degree) in 1993 from Chulalongkorn University, in Thailand. He completed his Postgraduate Degree and Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan and University of Bern, Switzerland. He studied implantology from Basel, Switzerland; UCLA, USA and University of Bern, Switzerland.

How long have you been in business?
We have been dental clinic for 2 years however, our implantologist has highly experienced working on implants for more than 15 years.
How many dental implant procedures have you done?
He has done surgical implants for over 18,000 implants with highly success rate 99%.
Where do most of your patients come from?
Most of our implant patients are Thai, some are Japanese and Australians.
We are located in prime area and our implantologist is well known these are the reason patients know our clinic.
What procedures do you typically recommend and perform?
Each patient has individual problems differently. Our implantologist is also oral maxillofacial surgeon, he has been working on many cases of single implants, bridge implants, bone graft, sinus lift, and all on 4 or 6.
What type of implants does your clinic use?
Our clinic uses 2 famous world brands which are Straumann from Swiss and Hiossen from USA. They are compatible to people around the world.
Please give me a summary of the steps of getting an implant at your clinic.
1. Diagnosis: Patient can take a Panoramic X-ray in their country. After considering it via email, then we can discuss treatment plan, cost, making appointment in advance.
2. Surgical implants: Take only one visit finish.
3. Crown and bridge and denture work:
4. After surgical implant for 3-6 months (complete osteointegration), patients need to visit us again for prosthesis work.
This process takes 5-8 days to be done completely.
Quick description of the surgical procedure at your clinic.
The surgical procedure starts with local anesthesia injection.
After that stage of surgically bury the implant to the bone is performed. Then immediate connection of a temporary healing abutment to an implant that protrudes through the gum.
During this stage, the temporary healing cap or abutment will be protected from chewing forces to assure effective bony osteointegration. However, patient will have kind of temporary denture whiling complete osteointegration.
It needs some time for successful healing and osteointegration. Normally after 3 months, a permanent abutment can be connected to the implant, allowing for final crown and bridge fabrication.

How many trips to Thailand are required?
Generally, patients need 2 trips. After our implantologist see the x-ray, then we will discuss the treatment plan before coming to Thailand.
1st trip: For surgical implant. It takes one day finish.
2nd trip: For crown and bridge and denture work. It takes around 5-8 days.
How long is the healing time?
Simple cases takes 1-2 days for uncomfortable pain and swelling which will be relief by antibiotic and pain killer, while complicated case might be took more time like 3-5 days. For complete healing and ossteointegration take around 3- 6 months.
What do advise your patients to do if they have a problem with their implant?
Due to highly successful implant from our implantologist, it hardly had a problem. However, normally local clinic in home town can manage that by removing part or non-integrated implant off. Then make an appointment with us for the next step such as 2nd. stage for put the healing cap in or put new implant.
Where do your patients stay while they are getting an implant done?
Our clinic has 4 stars partner hotels being near the clinic. Our patients can get a special rate of night stay cost around 1,400 – 1,800 THB/ night.
It it safe in Thailand?
Yes, it is safe to visit Thailand.
Does a patient need to be able to speak Thai?
No, they don’t need to speak Thai. Our dentists can speak English fluently and also our staffs can communicate in English.
What is there to do in your city?
Thailand is very famous for international tourism. We have been increasing tourists every year. Nice food, beautiful sea and sand, and mountain, shopping, culture and Thai people are welcome tourists.
In the hotels, there are many choices of tourism can offer you.
What is the best time of year to travel to Thailand?
People can visit Thailand though year. However, the low season is around June- August because of raining season.
What are the best places to eat in your area?
Our clinic is located in shopping center in prime location, there are plenty of various types of restaurants surrounding us.
